Heads up, Yellows finish on a high

After a season of practice the Yellows score three headers, 2 from corners against a battling Ryhall side in the last game of a long season.

Fielding a full strength squad for only the third time this season, the Yellows started very brightly and where a goal up in the first few minutes. Ryan and Thomas combining well from the start off, releasing Max who’s shot from the right was tipped over the bar for a corner. Sam’s resulting in-swinging corner was perfectly met by Luke at the near post and he powerfully headed in.

The Yellows continued in an upbeat manor, with Sam going close with a ferocious volley and a Bradley bullet just went over the bar. Sam bossing the middle of the park, set Max clear but his shot was cleared off the line. Thomas was next to go close, heading just wide from a Luke corner.

Ryhall were limited to a couple of long range shots, which Stef deal with certain ease. Just as it looked that the Yellows were not going to capitalise on all the pressure, Thomas timed his delayed run to header in another perfect Sam corner.

This seemed to spark Ryhall in to action and Stef pulled off a good save as the Yellows failed to clear and corner, and George was also on hand with several good clearances.

Adam then went close after being set up by Luke, his shot just going wide. But then the Yellows got caught out on the left as they committed bodies forward. Ryhall broke with pace and left Stef no chance. But the Yellows finished the half with a 2 goal cushion, Adam and Thomas combining well and Thomas’s cross was headed in by Max at the near post. Three headers in one game!!!

The Yellows introduced Callum and Robert for the second half and maintained the constant pressure on the Ryhall goal, Max see an effort go wide and a Callum clever cross from Callum eluded everyone. Again it was Max who got the Yellows fourth and his twenty fourth after a massive Stef clearance put Thomas through on goal, the keeper saved well, but the ball dropped kindly to Max who made no mistake from a few yards out. Robert and Callum combined well again to set up Adam, but he was unlucky to see his shot saved.

The Yellows changed things around for the last few minutes, putting Bradley up front, Adam on the left, Sam in the middle and Thomas on the right, with Max and Ryan at the back. Good work from Ryan fed Sam who’s run took pass his marker and set Thomas off on the right, his cross shot was well saved by the Ryhall keeper, but Bradley was quickest to the rebound and he slammed in his first of the season.

The Yellows were now in full control, and it was Adam who finished off the game after a good team move started at the back saw Adam calmly slot home.

A good result that saw the Yellows finish 4th in the league.
