Caythorpe & Fulbeck (1) v (2) Gonerby
A very tense and thrilling match was deservedly won by Gonerby on a cloudless spring day in Lincolnshire more suited to cricket than football. A cagey first half was spent sizing each other up and most efforts from both sides were speculative with Gonerby forced to withdraw top scorer Tom Fugura after 20 minutes due to injury. After the break the match really took off with Gonerby opening the scoring with a typical long range strike from Lewis Kettle which sailed into the net. Caythopre then pushed hard for the next ten minutes and were worth their equaliser to bring the mathc back level. Gonerby then stepped up a gear and pressed looking for the winner which came from a fortunate incident in which a sliced Charlie Smith shot fell kindly for Man of the Match George Petrou to slot home sweetly home. A hard fought enjoyable victory was sealed when the referee finally blew the whistle to end the match.

The first half was full of action but goalless. The second half was a different story. From an unlikely source Dominic scored a fabulous volley on the turn just inside the area. Soon afterwards a penalty was awarded for a handball and George slotted the ball home very convincingly. Then three more excellent goals were scored before full time. Tom with the first then a 25 yard screamer from Hubert and Tom rounded off a tantalising second half display.

Gonerby YFC (2) V (0) Moorlands Railway
Two very strong defences kept the score goal less in a well contested first half. Ross Denton in the Gonerby goal pulled off a fine save to further frustrate Moorlands. With twenty minutes left Tom Figura pounced on a weak clearance and fired an unstoppable shot into the top corner. Another powerful run and fine finish from Man of the Match Figura sealed the win for Gonerby. An excellent all round performance from Gonerby after a seven week lay off.
